When I attempted to wipe a piece of dust off the dome of a Terralux 2AA SSC P4 bulb for the stock Minimag, the dome of the LED felt like rubber, definitely not a hard plastic. Just something interesting I noticed.. :) Flexible dome material for thermal cycling / expansion maybe?

Silicone is high temperature resistant, and copes better with reflow soldering than an acrylic dome would. Glass would also work (Cree LEDs are made with glass domes), but the flexibility is a plus for the silicone.

Hey all, thanks for the info. Would love to see a version of the HFlash HF2 (very nice 1 AA Cree light) with an SSC Z-power emitter...
