I remember hearing somewhere that the emitters on their Seoul stars were just thermal greased on instead of epoxied on, but I don't know about their Cree stars. If you got a Q5 star, you could probably just desolder the emitter's legs (yes, a needle/conical iron tip would work best, along with a desoldering bulb, Soldapult, or copper braid) and gently pry it off the star with a thin razor/exacto knife. I can't tell exactly how the emitters are connected to the drop-ins' circular board, but if you didn't care about saving the old emitter, you could probably just rip it out with pliers and jam the new one in somehow. If you wanted to keep the old one intact, you'd have to experiment.
