We wouldn't want to start an international event by claiming authorship to an invention created elsewhere. Though you use the term "American", using the term could create the impression that the U.S. is claiming it. It might be fair to give credit where it's due.

It's a Canadian device, said to have been invented around 1950 by the Jem Rubber Co. of Toronto.

Is there something in my words that you either see or don't see that gives you reason to feel you need to admonish me?

A challenge for you, Illum...... can you tell if my post was an official moderation suggestion, or if I was entering into the conversation as a general member?

Speaking as an Australian, there are some things that I will forever love the USA for:

Maglites
Stanley planes
Millers Falls hand drills
V8 Engines
Embossed greeting cards
the Radio Valve
the Transistor
the Integrated Circuit
the Personal Computer
the Internet
Cree
