Assuming your AA NiMH are 2000mAh and your 14500 li-ion's are 750mAh

9AA NiMH in series will give you a nominal voltage of 10.8(1.2*9)V with 2000mAh capacity
vs.
3*14500 in series in 3 sets of parallel will give you a nominal voltage of 11.1(3.7*3)V with 2250(3*750)mAh

So to answer your question, the 14500's will last longer using the assumptions that i have. Hope this helps :)

you need only some 2700mah nimh batteries to get more runtime than li-ions:whistle:

Which will give me longest run time 9AA or 6 14500?

i grabbed some ni-mh cells on ebay for around 25-30usd, located in the states rated at 2700mah.

and if you do more searches abroad, you will find some 3000mah cells in the UK, but those get pricey.

i have heard about fitting problems in the FM holder, but i have had none with these cells, especially if you intend to charge them with the plug/adapter

I think that they haven't got 3000mah of capacity...I have never heard anithing about AAs that have 3000mah...max 2700.

well, i guess you can't believe anything you really see that is made in china. or else they have some serious false advertising. these cells are much more expensive and that does not necessarily mean that they will perform as their capacity states, note in the second link states "The normal output of this product is less than 3000mAh, you will be disappointed if you want exactly 3000mAh" .. so i'm not sure, maybe under tests they are less, but hopefully on the greater side of 2700+mah

the ones i picked up with 2700mah, seem to perform well and not that bad for bang vs buck, almost a dollar US per cell
