I'm making a couple of emergency kits up for family members and am wanting a drop-in solution for the mini Mag I'm including.

Have the NiteIze drop-ins superseded the MJ modules or are these still good choices for what I want: essentially a long(er) lasting, brighter light for emergency use?

Send me a PM...

I THINK I have a couple of the MJLED clone bare led drop-ins at work.

I am out of work now due to foot surgery but if I can find them I will mail you one or two in a couple weeks.

Oh and I still like them.

Better than the three LED nite-ize and Longer run time than the one+ watts.

They are probably about equal to the first generation one watt luxeons in output but VASTLY blown away by the newer leds.

I don't have a NiteIze to compare to, but I still really like the MJ drop-in. It can't touch the latest TerraLux in brightness, but the lack of heat sinking rules out this TerraLux in my book, and the latest MJ drop-in is brighter than the old Lux-based TerraLux drop-ins.

However, unless you already have the MiniMags, I'd probably opt for a Pak-Lite over a MiniMag + LED drop-in.

Thanks, wwglen. That's very nice of you! PM sent!

I was thinking about the Pak-Lite but, as you said, gs, I already have the Mag.

Thanks for the info!

THese won't run on nimh batteries?

The one I have are the BARE LEDs and rquire you to drill out the reflector.

Will work with rechargables but at reduced (about 1/2) output.
