Lambertian or Side Emitting with mag D reflector?

For anyone that has experience with using the 5W Luxeons with the mag reflectors (specifically the D size reflectors), I'm curious as to weather they are better behaved with the Side Emmiters or the Lambertian emmiters?

The Lamb's seem to give a slightly bigger hotspot, although the SE's focus tighter. They're comparable in my mind, the brighter of the two would come down to the bin codes of the particular emitters.

I get about a 5 degree beam hotspot with a lambertian (16" spot at 15')

So they both seem to work well when focused on a spot, but what about when focused for a flood?

And a related question: does either one do any better than the other wrt. the "black hole" and is either one an improvement over the light bulb in this regard (I suspect not).
