Greetings

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to drive an IR LED from Kai with a button cell or two.

LED is listed as 1 watt with the spec - 1.5V @ 350 (1W)
http://www.kaidomain.com/WEBUI/ProductDetail.aspx?TranID=3245

the button cells are CR2450's
Nominal Capacity 610mAh
Nominal Voltage 3V
standard discharge current 0.2mA
Max Discharge Current - continuous 2mA, Pulse 30mA

I could use 2 of these together -

Is there a driver I can add to make this work?
Kai's add on the marketplace says:
They draw 1.5V only, so you may use our newest AA step-up voltage circuit (with voltage adjustment) with it. You may want to turn the voltage output all the way down (2.0V), and add <1ohm of resistor to reduce the voltage to 1.5V-1.6V.

I don't really understand but it seems like 2 of the buttons together should give me 6V and then I should be able to convert the extra voltage to current - is this correct?

any thoughts?

thanks
Jamie

1 Watt from 2450

I don't think anyone has tried getting a full Watt out of button cells before.

Since they are Lithium button cells, and a slightly different setup than the usual CR123... It may not work, I think they have a high internal resistance. Or it might.:eek:oo:

thanks

ya - I think I'm gong to have to go with a CR2 or a CR123...

the flatter dimensions just worked much better for the project...

oh well
