I have 2 non-working U-bin stars from DX (2 out of 3 ordered). If the leads were installed with improper polarity would attaching it to a power supply give any damage noticeable to the eye?
I am not willing to try the "incorrect polarity" pads as I do not want to be the one responsible for the damage!
Are there any other explanations for these not to function?
BTW I applied a 3V 500ma current initially, and a 3.5V ~700ma current second. The one good star fired up beautifully under both conditions.
Any help would be much appreciated as they have asked me twice for an explanation after supplying this info and suggesting the polarity issues.

Use the diode test function on your DMM. It should provide enough current/voltage to at least dimly light up the LED. You can safely apply reverse voltage with the diode test of your DMM.

I've heard that the Seoul P4 is particularly fragile to reverse voltage.

This isn't the first time we've heard of incorrectly assembled Seoul P4 stars from DX.
