I'd like to mod a three or four cell, Maglight with one or more Lamina Titanturbo 2000 lumen http://www.ledsmagazine.com/press/15144 light engine (s).
I was wondering about what materials to use to make the King of Beam, a 5000 plus lumen searchlight.
I'd like to make it rechargeable but could go with another battery source.
This is my first modding project so please don't laugh too hard if this light engine is useless for flashlights / torchs.
Thanks

I don't think you'll be able to use that module. If you read carefully, you'll see that it's intended as a replacement for household lightbulbs, which means it runs on AC, not DC. Plus, if it's as big as ordinary lightbulbs, it'll be way too big to fit in a Mag.

If you want an LED-based Magmod, 2000 lumens is probably the upper limit. If you don't mind incan, 5000 is doable.

What you'll need is a Mag host, a bulb, an adapter for the bulb, an aluminum reflector, a glass window, a battery, and charger. For a 5kL build, you'll probably need to spend at least $100-200. Browse the Incandescent section for bulb ideas, as well as specific parts info.

Speaking of browsing, read threads for a little while and try to learn as much as you can. Also try http://www.tigerhawkt3.com/welcomemat.htm.

Use caution with such a build. The battery will be very powerful, and the beam will be able to start fires. Please know what you're doing before you attempt it.

Thanks, I've modified weapons, computers, and just about everything besides flashlights, I own over 50 various models of flashlights but never thought about pushing their limits until recently.
Thanks for the advice, I'll be very careful.
