As the title suggests, I want to know what can be done to this torch to bring it closer to todays standards.

I understand it has a Luxeon 3 emitter giving around 80 lumens. So far the most powerful LED torch I own (until my hopeful ebay bargain one turns up, 240 lumens)

Can the LED be swapped out for a more powerful one with not a lot of work involved?

Would also like to lose the annoying "flik" mecahnism if possible.

The Luxeon can be upgraded with a Seoul P4 LED. It will give you a very noticeable increase in brightness, while retaining the same runtime.

Watch out for the base of the Seoul LED, as it is connected to the anode (+). Do not allow it to short to ground, or your new LED and possibly your driver circuit will go :poof:.
