Hi all,

I just noticed that Tektite has come out with a 3 C-cell LS dive light, the Expedition Star. This could very well be the perfect backup light (for diving). Has anyone used a LS light for diving? If so, how does it compare to an incandescent?

Tektite claims it has "narrow beam optics", which would be a big plus for diving, but narrow is relative. How much can a led be focused?

Jesper,

The EXPEDITION STAR has 6 degree optics. We're the only ones who have used them so far; they won't be shipping for 45-60 days.

Hi Scott,

The 6 degree optics sound great! How does the output compare to the Trek 300?

The TREK 300 (krypton lamp) is 3 watts, and focusable. It's a good daytime "hole" light (for finding lobsters-yum!) or night back-up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
