Can anyone post pics about what the old U2 with 18650 compatible bodies look like vs. the new ones? What does the spacer look like and how do I know if I have one or not?

From the outside, the bodies look the same. If you look inside and see a black sleeve, then you have an older body. Put it in the freezer and you should be able to pull it out with your finger and your body will accept 18650's.
Newer bodies are simply narrower and do not have a sleeve. Those can be bored out to fit an 18650, but they will fit a 17670 without any issues.
