What's a Lambertian Luxeon Star?? Are all LS's the same or are there diff types? How can you tell which ones are better (color/brightness)?

Lambertian has a more even radiation pattern than the batwing, which will have a more pronounced dark spot in the beam center.

Only difference in physical terms is the shape of the lens - the dome height varies between the two.

ld - low-dome - batwing
hd - high-dome - lambertian
se - side emitter - (no cool name /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

when used with optics:
ld = round, close to medium range beam
hd = slightly squarish, longer range beam
se = no beam at all, se's suck with optics.

actually, in addition to the higher dome, the hd also benifits from a new phosper coating technique, which makes it whiter and brighter than the ld.

no-one knows why the ld doesn't use this technique, i'm not sure which tehnique a se uses...
