While I like my LF2 for it's two level switch, super bright output and cool programability. The tailcap holes require using the little tiny split ring and it still dosn't line up in my pocket as well as my old micromag AAA did. I also felt that the rear was way thicker than needed to hold a single AAA, so I decided to machine a new rear for the LF2.

I used Monel, which looks like pale brass, but is tougher and much more corrosion proof. I made most of it .487" dia, which is still plenty strong, and made it a little shorter, I think it could be another .05" shorter with a more compact spring in the rear. The metric threads came out a little tighter than the orig, but everything is silky smooth. I used the Lightflux style of flats and lines to indicate position, and slightly recessed the rear to help it tail stand.

I think it came out pretty good, and definetly fits better on the keyring and in my pocket, the rear has a .0625"rad on the butt which makes it feel smaller yet.
