I'm hoping someone can give me a little advice here. I had just about settled on the Terralux TLE-6EX, but then I saw some information that said you need the bulb mount to be metal, due to the heat it generates, it would probably melt plastic, which is a problem..

This is an older Brinkmann light (5 D cells) that looks very much like a Maglite, but the reflector is plastic that the PR Bulb fits into, and is fixed focus

I'm looking to improve the beam brightness, and hopefully the runtime along with it. I'm not sure what kind of PR conversion led that this light is capable of handling.

Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks!

So I actually might be ok going with the TLE-6EX? The rest of it is aluminum like the Mag, the reflector is bonded into the screw off head so can't be replaced.

I did see that thread, it seems that the next best step down would be the Terralux TLE-1F, but I was hoping to get more power than that.

How would the TLE-1F compare to the light that is coming out of a 5D Cell PR bulb?
