Can I use a 14500 in a L1D CE ?

Actually 4.2V fully charged.

The L1D head will take this battery and it should fit in the battery tube. But you loose lower modes until the battery is almost depleted(I think modes come at under 3.2v).

You would also want to buy protected Li-Ion batteries. It's much safer.

Use a LiFePO4 14500 cell instead of a LiIon one. It has lower voltage & will give you other modes other than turbo all the time.

does the 3.6 volt battery make it super bright like it does for the 10440?

we are talking about single cell fenix here right?

It will make the light brighter, how much? I don't know I think it should be a noticeable increase).

The L1D, L2D, P2D have the same head(compatible bodies) so they can be run on 1 1.5v cell.

The same head running with an RCR-123 cell (same voltage as a 14500) is 80% brighter than when using an Eneloop NiMH AA, according to my measurements.

so we're talking taking a 90 lumen aa fenix,
run it off a 3.6 volt 14500,
and you got a 162 lumen flashlight on your keychain???

The Fenix L1D-CE actually about 60 lumen out the front on Turbo, so about 110 with the 14500 battery. The Q5 head should output around 140-150 lumen with the 14500 battery.

I suppose so. And if you take a 300 lumen AA Fenix, you'll get 540 lumens! It all depends on how much you want to exaggerate the output from the AA light.

What about the max voltage for the L1D CE/2D CE head ? If it's same as the P3D that would make it 6.0v ??

No. The L1, L2, and P2 all use the same head, which is rated for something like 4.2 volts maximum (enough to handle a single Li-ion cell). The P3 has a different head, which can handle up to two Li-Ion cells. I believe Fenix rates it at 9 volts max.

lol, omg, i was talking about the rated bulb output from fenix, and i didn't think 90 lumens was that far off from actual bulb output. (not out the front)
