The full name of a CREE XRE is :

Cree XLamp 7090 XR-E Power LED

P4 is the Bin, Bin Codes describe the Efficiency/brightness of the LED

I think this thread would also help.

The bin codes in increasing efficiency/output(red ones aren't out yet and blue ones are my guess of the next bin codes):

N4, P2, P3, P4, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, R2, R3, R4,(maybe a R5) S2, S3, S4

P4 is one of the more common bins probably, because of wide availability and good price/performance.
