I just got my AAA because of the endless positive feedback. Should the beam shot have a dimmer center and a bright blue thin ring around it? My photon 2 is brighter and the beams hot spot is solid. Is there something wrong or is this normal? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Isn't the Photon a 3v Light? The ARC AA is 1.5v light. Don't know if that accounts for the difference in output.

jdriller is talking about the beam geometry. It is normal for each LED to look different from it's neighbor. Most of this is due to the variations in the die although the phosphor also contributes some.

And yes, LRI's Photon 2 will start brighter than the Arc-AAA. But after a couple of minutes, it will become dimmer than the Arc-AAA. The Arc-AAA uses a regulator to provide a more consistant output.

It sounds like your Arc AAA is about like my recently purchased one. Mine has a faint ring going halfway around the central spot. Actually the beams from my Photon 3 and standard Infinity are cleaner.
