Currently Sold Out.
I'd like to announce the sale of the JM-SST (JimmyM's Soft-Starter with Trim).

This is a 30mm round PCB that fits under the KIU switch base in a D body Mag. It uses PWM to rapidly switch on and off until it reaches it's set point. THIS IS NOT A REGULATOR. It simply ramps the duty cycle of the PWM to a fixed set point. It also has a trim pot on board to limit the maximum duty cycle. Duty cycle is the percentage of time that the PWM output is on. 50% duty means that for every 1 second of operation, the output is switched on for only 0.5 seconds.
The trim pot range allows for a 50% to 100% maximum duty cycle adjustment.
Full clockwise is a gentle start to 50%. If you turn it counter-clockwise about 2/3s of the way you get a gentle start to 100% duty cycle. Full counter-clockwise is a rapid start to 100% duty cycle.

This can be used with pack voltages from 9V to 40V. You cannot exceed 40V at any point.
The design discussion can be found here https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/165852
Page 4 has the results from Lux Luthor's testing. It was tested using paralleled 64623 bulbs, ultimately handling over 20 Amps and 340 Watts. It's quite sturdy.

That's what I get for going to work and being far away from an office. Hopefully, the next ones available will be posted in the early evening. That is the only time I can get to my computer.

I'm looking forward to reading the user reviews of these.

Regards,
Mark

Is that a hint, Mark?
I too, am interested in the user reviews. I'll have pics and diagrams soon. I'm on the road for work at the moment. I had Lux test the day-lights out of one and it came up roses. It was assembled from the same boards and components as these. I'll have more soon from this batch and another batch thereafter.
If you have a Mag mod that draws more than 20 amps, let me know. You and I willl work on it.

I think I just got your PayPal, but it doesn't say anything about soft-starters, JM-SST, or have your CPF handle in it. It just looks like a gift from a stranger in Australia for $31.

Hi

Photo :bumpit:

Modest Jim has neglected to mention that he has posted photos of these lovely items up there in Post 1.

Look great with all those tiny little components . . . seem to have about 14 more thingys on them than a simple FET switch but connect into a KIU just as easily

Quick - Last 5 of batch one . . .

Pete
