My searches have answered many questions except what I want to know about the P3D Q5. May I safely use two 4.2v li-ion cells and does it change any parameters (brightness levels, R/T, etc)? Any advantages to sticking with two primary CR123 cells, because I've got a bunch of them?

Thank you so much for any help.

AW's RCR 123's work fine with my P3D's. As I recall this was a question asked many times in the original P3D threads. 4Sevens checked in with a yes to the rechargeables.

Not sure about runtime or brightness but I'd guess that primaries would give longer runtime. As for brightness, it performs great with either battery set.

I believe single 17670's are problematic with regard to fit. I recall people pulling the wrappers off to fit them. Not sure how they perform when you can insert them.

Some RCR123's are a little bit longer than CR123's which makes not fit in perfectly.... You might have to unscrew the head and disable turbo mode to make room for larger RCR123's.

I tried a pair of AW's RCR123 cells and got a lower low, which is preferable, but the other levels all equaled the output with two primary 123's. That was unexpected and may be advantageous for those who like a lower low level, like me. The regulator tracks well because there was a drop in current for all levels.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm still confused...

What are the trade-offs between RCR123 and CR123?

Only AW's RCR123's will work?
Not sure where to buy them.

What about Tenergy?
They have a 900mAH @ 3.0V (technical 3.6V for 12ms).

What about Ultrafire?
They have a 750mAH @ 3.7V

And to charge them, I was thinking of Ultrafire's WF-139 charger. Not sure what the other options are.

What's the ideal setup for RCR123's?

(Sorry if any of this is a repeat. CPF's search leaves room for improvement.)

Thanks,

Jake

I order 4 new RCR123 and charger from AW, Hope will work on my P3DQ5 and my New T1, and I will check on the running time between them.
