Will the M1-R/T/SE can (metal switch housing) fit on the MRV?

Hi, I have the M1-R SE, and it is a great light on primaries or RCR123A's. But part of why I bought it (a big part) was for it to be my nightly walking light and I was planning on using a 18650 in it. The 18650 works, but the light is pretty dim with it. MMled 3AA kind of brightness. I tried 2 different brands of new 18650's (one being AW's) and the same low brightness level.

I contacted Batteryjunction and Matt told me that it was normal and LP told him that it draws more energy than the Rebel version so there was nothing wrong with my light.

I really like the light, but want longer (free) bright runtime than the rcr123's can give me. If any of you have a MRV and a M1-T-R-SE, would you try taking off the metal can (whole back switch mechanism) just like you were unscrewing it to change the batteries and see if it fits on your MRV... it looks like it should, but I hate to buy the tube if it will not. With 2x18650's the M1 should run a loonnnggg time and I will be very happy.

Thanks!
