Do you think the K2 will last long in place of the LuxV? My understanding is that the LuxV has a Vf of 6v+ where the K2 is around 3.75v.

I would have expected it to go :poof: on first use.

That makes more sense. I couldn't see the K2 taking that much voltage for very long.

Does an 18650 fit without boring out the barrel?

I would have figured the 352 to have a boost circuit in it (I've taken mine apart but haven't checked out the driver). Is this not the case?

Yes, i did bored the tube to take 17 & 18 diameter cell.
I read somewhere the circuit have a boost in it so you must be careful with the cell selection or it will go :poof: and you have to :paypal: for another one :grin2:

if you decide to mod this host please be careful when screw down the bezel as not to hit the emitter,if you look closely at one of the photos there is slight o-ring expose down the bezel - that is the extra 0-ring added to stop the bezel from going all the way down.

Measured my ALX 352-L with LuxV stock-emitter
and LIR 17670:

high / med / low
1,15 / 0,64 / 0,34 A at the tail and
6,24 / 5,20 / 4,64 V at the emitter

Seems to much for the K2!

That light comes with a ghetto down converter so you'll be fine with a luxV, lux3 or k2 as long as it can take the current and is heatsinked properly.

I remember modding a few of these nuwais and being quite surprised by the quality.

I soldered an SSC P4 U-bin in (an older one from DX with unknown tint-bin and
greenish tint :green:) and get now with stock-driver and LIR17670:

high / med / low
1,15 / 0,51 / 0,28 A (tailcap)
3,55 / 2,97 / 2,59 V (bypassing the emitter)

The Vf reading on high starts at 3,8 - 3,9 and counts down to ~ 3,55 within about
10-20 sec..
The greenish tint is more obvious on high than on med or low – the emitter seems
to be somewhat overdriven.
The strobe mode does not work with this emitter.
The emitter does afterglow a few seconds if the light was switched off.

Next I will try a K2 TFFC TUME in this flashlight.
