Stinger XT tail cap and Stinger LED tail cap?

Ok so i order a stinger xt tail cap for my Stinger LED light thinking hey its just a tailcap switch no big deal. Well I got it in and I thought it was defective working really weird! So i called Streamlight and they said no that one wont work you need part number 757055 tail cap instead.

So the ? is is there a way to modify the tail cap to make it work properly or am i just out 20 bucks!

I e-mailed SL earlier this year and asked them if I could get a Stinger LED DS switch for my orig Stinger LED. Their response was it will not work. It must be a Stinger LED DS model. There must be some modification to the battery circuitry to allow for the DS operation.

I would say you are SOL with the tailcap.
