For us Northerners its party time! I went for a walk last night with my wife. The air was cold and clear. Recent rains have really cleansed the air. There was a bright moon casting a LED like halo. Lots of shadows and the migrating geese could be heard and seen (they appeared to be glowing) as they flew to their wintering grounds. The green beam of my KX2 added to the wintery effect. This was the night time inaugeration of my latest light. A KX2 on a E2 body with a silver McClicky tailcap dressed with GID o-rings and lanyard.

The houses were gaily decorated in the Holiday Spirit.

Ahhhhh Bliss.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS CPF!!!

I know how it goes.
We were always taught that it always happens on the 21st. That's the public school system hard at work. Luckily I'm an astronomy nerd as well, so I can point out these very important life and death facts! Say the word and I'll go picking apart your grammar as well!

Another embarrassing episode of premature illumination on my part...

I think you can get pills for that... or something. Unfortunately, this means that the days will start getting longer!!!

Night Into Day
12-21-07 - Derek Dean

It's a day of darkness
For planet earth
When light fades quickly
Giving way to the unknown.

We celebrate the gathering gloom
And illuminate it's unforgiving shadows
With torches made from elementary particles
Only to find our souls laid bare.

On this hallowed day when darkness reigns
We talk in hushed whispers of legends past
Of deeds done and dreams brought forth
And so find our spirits raised for an instant.

We part the night with our swords of light
As we search for meaning from within
And as before we find our way
So that once again our destiny is fulfilled

Many the night was blinded by piercing beams
And as the darkness vanishes
In that instant
We become complete.

Very nice post...er prose there Derek Dean. The best thing was my wife just got up and said "what are you doing at 3:50am!? Oh FLASHLIGHTS again! & I said "no, look at what I'm reading" she read it and now thinks a lot more of this forum. THANKS.

Oh and I enjoyed reading the OP - too bad it got picked over.

yes. i agree. very nice, indeed, IMO.

called "Free Verse" if i'm NOT mistaken (lone Uncle a retired Penn State English & German Prof. - recently he wrote [yes,...actually "penned" & snail-mailed] a letter to me in which he educated me on the nuances of "free verse" vs. "prose" - teaching me that they are the "same", but "different" (it's not only an issue both of "hot debate" amongst English Profs, but also an issue of galactic proportions, no doubt!).

again DD, nice work. thanks for sharing.
