The Led dosen't look like a 3 watt Luxeon.

Looks alot like this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.79 Different head machining, but the rest looks the same.
Same LED (cheap generic), but on a white star. I've modded a few of these with Cree's, they turn out pretty good for a simple mod. The stock LED's vary greatly in tint... it seemed that only one in three was decent.

i got ripped off on a ebay flashlight with the same "LED" if you even want to call it that a while back... the led is almost printed on a round piece of cardboard...oh and did i mention output was terrible?:thumbsdow
