I look at my 6PL and I see what looks like an SSC P4. Not a Cree. I have seen both SSC P4 and Crees before so I am sure I know what these look like. I have MTE SSC P4 1xAA and the Simply Cree from DX and I also have FENIX Crees.

But I always read people talk about Cree SureFires and no talk about SSC P4 SureFires. Am I missing something here?

Are some SureFires using SSC P4 and some using Crees? Or are SureFire Crees different from FENIX Crees?

What LED does SureFire use anyways?

The KX1, KX2, L1 all use Crees

Th P60L drop-in uses the Seoul.

Surefire uses both for different apps.

As noted SureFire uses a variety of LEDs - depending on things like product design.
Note that just with the original KL1 SureFire made in-line changes to the LEDs it used so unless you can positively identify the LED (for example by being able to see it) I feel it is always an assumption to state what SureFire are using behind a TIR optic because things can change.
