Does anybody have any ideas for an extender for my Brinkmann Maxfire LX? I normally run it with two RCR's and a P90 at work, but I'd like to upgrade to the extra runtime of a couple of 17500's.

My Sure-Fire compatible extender will not screw onto the tail threads, does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

I have the maxfire rechargeable version. The stock battery is 17mm in diameter and 115mm long. So if you buy the rechargeable version you could use a pair of 17500s with a new lamp. Although the rechargeable version stock battery is 15mm longer than a pair of 17500s. This is my plan for modding my maxfire.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the suggestions. It sounds like it might be too long though. 1.5 centimeters. Let me know if you have success. My Maxfire has been modded by me to accept the RCR123A's, since the stock version has a rib inside to prevent fatter batteries than CR123A's, so I was hoping for an easy way to extend it somehow.

I had 3x123 and a spacer in my rechargeable Maxfire until I found out I had 3 pretty wildly different V 123s. Strangely enough the Light bulb took it!

What I'm saying is that 123s go in and out of it just fine!

OH! Just had a thought! New P60L in there with 3x123 or 2x17xxx would be pretty good.

EDIT: Works peachy! No extra brightness but surely more runtime!
I have (and know how to use safely) non-protected 17500s but 17670 are gonna be about 20mm too long.

Well, maybe only about 10mm...

The size of the battery was listed by davidt- "The stock battery is 17mm in diameter and 115mm long."
So what do you think the diameter of a 17500 is? And why would you think that the nicad was "way skinnier?

The P17500's and P17670's usually run about 17.5mm in diameter in my experience. Maybe I will luck out and they will fit though. That would be great if they fit. If anyone has one they would like to let go for cheap, I'm interested! I guess I only need the body.
