I recently bought a Surefire 6PL and have been trying to figure out all of the possible battery combinations. So far I have figured out that you can use:

1)2 Rechargeable 123 cells.

2)2 Primary 123 cells.

3)1 17670 Li-Ion rechargeable cell.

4)3 Rechargeable 123 cells with A19 extender.

Did I miss any possibilities?????

Yes, sorry it is a 6PL. Surefire references is as a 6P LED on their website so I thought I was referencing it correctly. Anyway, it is a factory 6PL.

I don't think you can do three at 3.7 volts each, b/c the P60L maxes out voltage wise at 9v. You forgot to include the runtime and outputs compared to the 6PL with two primaries.

also, please, please lord refer to it as the 6P, NOT the P6. Thanks very much

I would not run three 3.7v cells through that drop in. With an initial voltage of around 4.2 per cell, that's over 12v into the system.

senna94, the SF 6PL is a very nice light. I'd love to have one. Some have scoffed at the output of 80 lumens, but that's plenty bright for most tasks. Some of these other guys can advise you @ the best battery configuration... I don't have any experience with rechargeables. Happy New Year to you and yours! :twothumbs

Yeah, 3 3.7V Li-Ions would be too much... you could do 3 primary 123's though.

Also 2 LiFePO4 rechargeable 123's work great, but you need to keep an eye on the voltage so that they're not discharged too low.

I think I have read of some boring out the body to accept 18650 cells. I personally would just use two RCR123A cells.
