Hi:

I noticed in this review that an unprotected 14500 was used in the T15:

https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/183792

The reviewer also used a protected cell in a Nitecore DI. This was based on fit, the protected cell wouldn't fit in Olight T15. However, the DI is specified as being able to detect Li-Ion battery and "alarm" when low voltage occurs. So it would be more logical to use an unprotected cell in DI, if this were physically possible.

Question:

1. Is there any specification (in the manual or other, since there is no indication on Olight's T15 page) that the T15 can handle a 14500 without being overdriven?

2. Is there a protected 14500 known to fit in T15?

Read This Post for the use of a 14500.

I haven't heard of a protected 14500 fitting but if there is somebody out there has fit one in let us know.

You just have to be careful using an unprotected 14500. Don't let the battery run all the way down or the battery will be no good, it won't charge.

Always never leave the unprotected unattended while charging.

Also take a look at this thread:

http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=172948

I believe Olight states in there that the "new/improved" 08 models will be able to fit a 14500. I believe the T15 can run on 14500s fine, but the problem has been that no protected ones fit. Read thru the thread as I thought I recall Olight stating the new ones will be made slightly larger ID to fit 14500s (and R123As for the T10).
