Where did you buy/salvage the heatsink from?
Do you think that not having a reflector detracts from it in any way? I am considering this option for an old 3xAA mutli-LED torch.

the heatsink was on a small chip in an old motherboard i just keep all heatsinks i find

the bare led works well for what i wanted - i needed flood at a few feet range
so this is perfect and does not detract

if anything for close range its better than reflector/optic

but if you need any throw - forget it

mmm, I have one just like it....1-3/16" square, 1/8" high

couldn't pry the thing off the motherboard though:shakehead

is the heatsink sufficient?

it gets pretty hot when the batterys are fresh but after about 10 mins its just slightly warm so yeah it does the job. batterys are probably about 4.0v off the charger
