I have a streamlight TL-3 and was wondering if there is a cree Q5 or some other drop in that would make this light brighter, if not then has anyone modded one of these with a brighter LED.
The light is powered by 3 CR123a batteries so that would make it 9 volts, so what would be a good driver for this light. I would like to make it as bright as posible. I get free CR123 batteries at work so that isnt a problem.
Any ideas or thoughts would be welcome.

since the typical Vf of a Q5 is around 3.4 volts so you would need a buck regulator and a good heatsink. That or you could go with a multi-emitter setup.
