What???!

By KL4 you mean the head from a L4? I thought that running the L4 with 2 X RCR123 was a big NO NO!

With two RCR123s it will be very bright, and get very hot, too hot. Don't do it and if you do, don't complain to Surefire if your KL4 head gets ruined.

If you want a good rechargeable solution go with one 17670 battery. Be advised that some body are too tight to accept that kind of cell.
I'm using one AW 17670 in my L4 (last generation) without problems. I only removed the sticker on the battery.
Hope it can help.

I am currently running it on 1x18650, seems to run fine. Thank you for the input everyone, not worth the chance.

why take the risk if surefire voids warranties for using li-ion?
I'd go for the boost part of the circuit over buck, why pay more for less?
2xrcr123A, 1x17670 both works
both from AW, 2xrcr123A will cost $14 for 750mah while 1x17670 only cost $11 for 1600mah and takes up one less space on the charger:devil:

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't want to risk an expensive light by using questionable rechargeable solutions. The relatively small amount of money it would save me just isn't worth it.

I suppose I should have mentioned that I use the 3 volt variety when I use 2 and the 3.6-7 volt variety when using a single cell.
BTW guys the 3 volt cr123 primaries are lithium cells.

IMHO the coolest way to run the kl4 is with a single cell body and a rcr123 3.6 volt battery or a single 18650 cell.
Both shown below.

From everything I ever read, the KL4 circuit is only boost, no buck. So when you use two 3.7 li-ions you will be running the LuxV in direct drive. Depending on the vf of the LuxV it may run for a while before you ever notice any problem from overdriving and in other cases, it may burn out on you in a hurry. Do this at your own risk. Remember LuxVs are rated for much shorter lives than LxIIIs to start with.
