New Jetbeam light

Jetbeam has stated that their new light will put out 280 lumens on an AA lithium cell. How over rated do you think this will be? It looks like a really nice light, but im a bit pesimistic about that 280 lumens figure. What do you guys think?

It specs a R2 bin Cree, and that 280L quoted is on a 14500, so <beginning of speculation> it may get over 200L out the front. I think they are quoting the theoretical maximum at the emitter on a fresh 14500.
Over 200 out the front is still very good. Someone who has one already measured ~2800 cp at 1M, healthily out throwing the Nitecore Defender Infinity, which is probably putting out ~150-ish??? Lumens? with a Q5. If course the Jetbeam Pro1 has a larger smooth reflector in a 24mm head built for throw.
<edit> I assume the emitter still needs over 1A to make that kind of lumens.

On the basis of the known CREE R2 data the given output seems really well on the optimistic side:






Regardless of this Jetbeam have recently issued some very good lights and I am looking forward to this new Jet I Pro. The design is surely catching.

No doubt it will hit 280!! (As long as they use the same scale that the Tiablo used for the A1)

look like i wont be getting a new light soon, if not i might be short when it comes to buying that...:duh2:

only to bad it doubles the output with 14500 on low and medium also.
would have been nice if this could be avoided.

Don't worry too much.....one month later another flashlight will render the new Jetbeam useless....and so on, so on, so on....

I hope they have a better track record with this one than with the Jetbeam C-LE. I think I'm done with Jetbeam after that fiasco.

If the spec sheets says R2 bin can produce 100LPW, does that mean that it can produce 300 lumens at 3 watts?

Jetbeam is very good at promoting nice stuff but when it comes down to delivering it they can not make it happen.
if they did everything they would do i now would have had at leastr 3 jetbeam lights(at the moment i have none)

they also have had lot's of QC issues in the past.

hopefully they will get it right this time.

build it, test it, promote it, ship it

We can group Rexlight in there with Jetbeam too! :sigh:

Ok. Its possible that it uses the same circuitry as the mk2x, which is driven at 1.4A. Not sure how much the led is supposed to put out at 1.4A, but i'm sure its a lot.

I think the 280 figure is going to be vastly inflated, but we'll have to see.
