I've been EDCing a stock E2E for years, held off upgrading it at first because of the cost but now with the Cree upgrade out there it'll turn it into a different animal entirely. It's an old friend, feel the need to keep it up to date.
Problem, is that I intend to get a Photon Proton for general use because of all the features and extra touches. The Surefire would be the unbeatable back-up or extreme use light where it absolutely has to work in any environment.
...But the L1 is brighter, with one battery, with that extra low mode that'll last ten hours. I could just keep saving for it, might be better off.
Can the Proton replace the L1 in fit and function? Is the E2L simple enough that it's more reliable than the L1? Can the Proton replace them both with the build quality? How bright are the lights without the marketing exaggerations?
