SMARTFIRE M-504C DIED...WELL ALMOST

I bought a 505-c and all WAS fine.I amp on high .47 on medium and .27 on low.After about 1 hr. of use I noticed it was dimmer.when I mesured again .34 on high .27 medium and .22 on low.I tried new alkies and fully charged ni cds still dim.It also draws .14 from the batts when the switch is OFF.I think the driver is dead.My question is where can I get a high quality driver(single mode is fine)that only draws about .5-.7amps off the batts so I can run 4 c cells(primary or rechargable) for good runtimes.ANY advise would be helpful.Lots of room for a driver so size is not an issue.

Have you tried cleaning the contact points? It could be the switch.

If you buy a new driver, would you also like multimode?

You can also have a powerful high mode and a medium and low mode for longer runtime. Better to have and not need then need and not have.

I cleaned all the contact points I could think of and see.I would rather have multi mode but I would like it to come on at low mode instead of memory type mode.Can't seem to find a driver like that.I'm gunna take the head apart today and see whats inside.
