CMG Infinity - Tighter = Brighter?

I've noticed that my CMG Infinity lights get brighter as you tighten the head. (If it matters, they're all the version with the black contact on the rear of the PCB.)

I assume that as the head is tightened, there is less resistance due to greater contact, or something like that? If that isn't right, what's the reason? Thanks!

Yeah, it's well known that the versions with that black contact material had that characteristic. The black stuff is squishy and has some resistance that decreases when you compress it.
