I would like to get the members' recommendations on high-current drivers to use for the following battery configurations

1. 1xAA
2. 2xAA
3. 1xCR123 (3V)
4. 2xCR123 / RCR123 (6-8.4V)

If possible, please include single/multi-mode configurations, as well as budget (DX/KD) versus more expensive options.

P.S. Need to be <17mm in diameter and <6mm high.

If 700mA isn't pushing it too far, give the Deal Extreme AMC7135 regulator boards a try (pre assembled in sheets of 20).

None of the four battery configurations listed is suitable for the AMC7135, which needs the voltage to be at least 0.12V higher than the forward voltage of the LED being used (nominally 3.7V), but under 6V.

However, if you wanted to use an extra LED in series with the regulator board it would be OK for option 4, and you could even use one of the 1 amp, 5 or 16 (19?) mode AMC7135 boards.

Edit: Woohoo! 2,000 posts.
