Way to go CPF! It's actually been less than two weeks since my official join date, and already I've bought $250 worth of flashlight gear. (Please, don't tell my wife!)

I've always liked flashlights and I remember playing with my first mini Maglite for hours when I got it. I have since collected a few more Maglites and I use a headlamp for backpacking, but I didn't get excited about another flashlight until my father gave me a couple of Dorcy LED Hawkeyes (1W, 3xAAA, 40 lumens). I was really impressed with the brightness and quality feel of these lights in my hand. Recently, I found another black metal 3AAA Dorcy (focusing optical lens, 45 lumens) at Walmart for only $6 on clearance. I got curious about these lights and did a little research which led me to this forum.

I'm a bass player and in the bass playing community we use a term for a condition which many of you seem to also have: GAS or Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Whenever you feel the need to upgrade or change your equipment, even if you don't really need to, you are suffering from GAS pains. Well, this forum has given me flashlight GAS in a bad way.

My first purchase was from the Fenix-store:
Fenix 4in1 Powerpack P2D/L1D Q5 Black Combo
Fenix Tactical T1 Olive CLIPLESS
Keep2Go Crystal Clear with FOUR CR123A

My next purchase was from Lighthound.com:
Fenix Flashlight L2D Body Tube
Ball Chain Lanyard - 30 inch
Terralux MiniStar5 for 2 - 6 cell C or D Maglite Flashlights
Terralux MiniStar5 Extreme for 2-3 cell C or D Maglite Flashlights
Fenix L0D CE Cree X-Lamp Q4 Bin AAA Flashlight, HA III Black Finish

For my next/future purchase I'm thinking either a Novatac or Nitecore and I also need to upgrade my headlamp (Zebralight?).

Currently Owned Flashlights:
2 or 3 mini-Mags (no mods, yet)
Petzl Headlamp
4D Maglite (w/ Terralux MiniStar5)
2C Maglite (w/ Terralux MiniStar5 Extreme)
Dorcy Hawkeyes (2)
Dorcy Focusing LED (black metal, optic lens, 3xAAA, 45 lumens)
Fenix P2D (Q5) w/ extra L1D and L2D bodies)
Fenix Tactical T1 (Olive, clipless)
Fenix L0D CE Cree X-Lamp Q4 (HA III Black)

Listed by battery #/type:
1AAA: Fenix L0D CE Cree X-Lamp Q4 (HA III Black)
3AAA: Dorcy Hawkeyes (2) and Dorcy Focusing LED
1AA: Fenix L1D (Q5)
2AA: Fenix L2D (Q5) and mini Maglites (2-3)
4AA: Petzel Headlamp
2C: Maglite (w/ Terralux MiniStar5 Extreme)
4D: Maglite (w/ Terralux MiniStar5)
1CR123A: Fenix P2D (Q5)
2CR123A: Fenix T1 (Olive, clipless)

Anyway, thanks to everyone for maintaining a great site with a plethora of valuable information. I'm hooked!

and can get expensive too, but once you click the light on... it worth every penny...until you click off, then the feeling comes back.

Welcome to CPF, fresnorich. You're really off to a flying start. Take it from an old flashaholic, this crazy world of ours changes fast. Today's great lights are tomorrow's dim bulbs. Don't burn yourself out. Long runtime is good, too.

Just stay away from knives, I made myself quit reading knife forums before things got out of control for the same reason.

Welcome, and don't worry, it gets much, much worse from here. In the past 2 weeks I spent $220 on flashlights and accessories from Fenix-store, and I plan to get a novatac, surefire backup, and some others I'm not sure about yet ^_^

How long until our debit/credit cards grow legs and run away?

Edit: Not to mention all the stuff I've bought during the year and a bit I've been here...

Still need a small fix once in a while.

When I was reading those knife dedicated forums I was literally thinking about what should I pick up next all the time.

what ever you do do not buy a Surefire flashlight.

That's for sure .... once you buy 'a' Surefire you'll buy a second & a third & a fourth ... then add a NovaTac or two ... then a Milky mod or a McGizmo ... then

Man, you are so hooked. As stated above, if you buy a SureFire, you might as well give it up. Since I purchased my first SureFire 6P, I now have an M6, M4, M3, U2, A2, L4, E2e, E1e, multiple G2's, multiple KL1's, cell extenders, Drop-ins, extra lamps, parts, SC1,2,3 spare carriers, Turbo heads, 72-pack of SF123's, as well as an HDS U60GT, and a bunch of other stuff. It's like Hotel California. You can checkout anytime you like, but you can't ever leave. Beware, all ye who enter here...

I know what you mean. But it was easy for me.... I left BladeForums.com when a couple of the Mods there started acting like the trolls they were supposed to watch out for. I don't go there as much, now.

But if the knife sub-forum on CPF really takes off, I'm screwed! :)
