Now that I own both of these lights I decided to compare them side by side and I noticed quite a few differences other than the new emitter. Fenix have redesigned the L2D RB100 in a few places:

1. The lanyard holes are a little larger by a fraction or just rounded better (hard to tell)
2. The switch boot has a rough textured grippy surface
3. The head end of the body tube has a chamfered inside edge
4. The head has a light texturing etched in for better grip
5. The light model number is printed on the head along with a batch code
6. The bright flash when changing modes is gone (yay!)
7. The outer contact on the bottom of the head PCB has been coated with another metal, possibly gold

Anything else anyone else has noticed?

Strange, how long ago did you order your L2D RB100? Did it have a batch code printed on it?

My L2D Q5 that I got in early December luckily did not come with the bright flash when changing modes, even though I was expecting it to.

I think that Fenix must have changed a few things late last year as Zipplet mentions. None of them are significant at all except the flash when changing modes, and perhaps the gold plated coating which I hadn't noticed.
