Dismantling a Tiablo A9? help needed

I have a Tiablo A9 which has been running of a remote battery pack (6 eneloop's in series) however I have used a PWM dimmer between the light & the batteries, and the PWM has caused some damage to the led's driver due to the pulsing current (we think).

How do we remove the driver circuit & cree led from the alluminium housing to inspect and or replace? I once read somewhere on CPF that somebody upgraded an A9 to 1.2 amps, so dismantling must be possible.

If the driver needs to be replaced we may as well upgrade it to 1.2 amps whilst we have it apart & perhaps even put in a cree R2 in as well (if obtainable), would this be workable?

I use the light for long run times & require both a very high & low power beam throughout the run time (up to 6 hours). Obviously I'll need to find a more suitable PWM which can provide a "cleaner" current too.

I never really documented my adventures with my A8 and A9 lights.
One notable difference is that the A9 driver is 22mm? in diameter. I used the old A9 driver stripped of all components for contacts and made a sandwich with short leads from the old stripped drivers - and + points.
