K2s aren't exactly the most efficient thing on the market... they have to compete in price to leds almost 3 times a efficient and only a couple more dollars.

Well I got one anyways, cause you know... they're neat looking and I'm a flashaholic. I'll stick it in something.

neat looking? you can get an scc for less than $5 and a cree for a little more and you get 3x the output for the same amount of power. but hey, it only $2.79... therefore, buy both!

They can reach a high lumen output with low heat generation according to the marketing. I bought one recently, the tint is definitely the best of any LED I've seen (warm white, not "rose"). I put it in one of these and although the tint is a lot better, the original LED was a bit brighter.
I think these are good for applications where heatsinking is inadequate (because they're so cheap) or they're driven from mains power.

Sirlightalot had me confused saying how the cree has 3x the output for the same power and I finally realized he was confused with the old luxeon jobs that ran at a million degrees. These are the new ones that came after the rebels. 3 watts and 100 lumens. Its not too shabby, especially for $3.

I don't think those ones on kai are new version. they don't say it is, plus they say it's 100 lumen. Old version is 130 Lumens typical at 1500mA so this one sounds like in the ballpark.

Bought some, attracted by the price.
Large variation in tint.
They run much hotter than DX crees (normal p4), while giving less light.
Not really worth it considering how cheap we can get proper Crees.

These are the old power hungry K2s. They are no better then the old U bin Luxeon, in fact, I would rather use an old Lux 3 than one of these.

The new k2s will kill these in output and tint.

This is the new k2. Notice the rebel grid.
