Hello guys,

I ´ve been reading here since about one year, but now´s the time for my first post.

I hope You have no problems with my English.

I also hope that this is the right place to post it.

Let me tell You about my bad experience with the ebay seller redheartking barry,
also owner of LCK-LED.com

Intention is to prevent anyone else from same bad experience.

I have ordered a new dereelight CL1H V3 Q5 from him for total 75 US$ incl.shipping.

The light came a fortnight later and didn´t work from the beginning,
both levels did only glim very very low with fresh AW 18650.

I mailed him 3 times at first, we discusssed the problem
and he advised me to send back the complete light by registered mail.
He wanted to send me a new light.
He confirmed to make a paypal order about shipping costs of 15 US$ after receiving the light.

He achieved the light 14 days later, meanwhile I asked him
again several times if the light did arrive.
When he answered he told me me to send it back next day, but it did last one week.
Total 40 days from sending back till receiving again.

But now the best:

I have received the same light (same serial number) as before.
I have noticed that the tailcap was loose when tightened when I had the lamp the first time,
but when I got it the second time, the thread was totally damaged,
the tail cap didn´t keep it´s place.

Seller didn´t answer several mails, :(
he dind´t even make a paypal order for shipping costs. :thumbsdow
He has now got a negative voting on ebay from me.

So I asked myself what to do with that light.
If I pressed the tailcap towards the body, both levels work.
But the tailcap didn´t stay.

I thought about it and tried to rescue the light without spending more money.

I put apart all things and noticed, that it would be possible to turn around battery tube.
The thread of the side original to the head is a bit longer and holds the tailcap.

I had to remove the plastic with the spring and put a longer screw in the tailcap.

here the original light (picture taken when I´ve got it first time)

parts of the light, taken apart after receiving 2nd time:

and here the tailcap with damaged thread and longer screw, necessary for battery contact:
That´s not the final version. I took a V2A screw and fixed it.
The plastic with the spring is removed and battery now contacts directly the spring of the emitter pill.

The flashlight works now very fine, I hope that will stay so.
It has much throw, bright, but rather small spot.
Cannot say anything about runtime.
I will turn off the head to change battery, in order not to stress the tailcap thread.

Is there anyone who made similar experience with that seller?

best regards, Martin

If You are reading this here, Barry, You should ask Youself if that was necessary.

Too bad that you had such a bad experience. I would contact Alan and make arrangements to buy the parts that are damaged on your light. Too bad that you can't get satisfaction but at least this way you would have a good light.

Pat

Hi Pat,

I took a look at the hp of dereelight, but couldn´t find any parts like tailcaps
as you can find at fenix-store for example.

But You are right. I should mail Alan and ask if he can offer me a tailcap.
But at the moment the light works well. As long as it does there´s no need to hurry.

:welcome: No problem with your English Martin.
It's a shame to have what should be a nice light and have to patch it up.

Hi TORCH BOY, Hi Norm

and thank You for wellcoming me.

That would be the right idea, Torch Boy, but what to do if the seller didn´t answer?
Pay again 15US$, not knowing if you get them back anytime?

It´s astonishing, but about 4 hours after writing this here I got an answer from him:

Hi, Martin

Thanks for your email, we are not try to cheating you, please understanding
it. we have sent you the same flashlight, but it has been replaced with the
new modules, and has been test before sending back, did you test it? it should be working fine.

For the refund of the shipping cost, I will refund the money as soon as got your reply.

Looking forward to your soon reply.

Regards,
Barry Law

[FONT=????]That´s what he wrote on Jan.01.2008.:

The cost of the returning cost will be refund by Paypal after received the light.

He received the light 4 weeks ago.

Would You trust such a guy?

And no word about the tailcap.
If he tested it, why didn´t he notice the problem with the cap?

It was rather loose when I got the light the first time, but I didn´t expect that problem
coming up so fast that it would not be able to fix it after receiving the light.

I guess it´s better to contact dereelight and tell them about.

But I hope that other guys who reed this here make their conclusions.

best regards, Martin

With Dereelight, you're better off buying direct from Dereelight (Basically Alan).

From what I've heard, he's a good guy who listens to customer feedback.
Here's a link to the Dereelight Official site.

http://www.dereelight.com/index.htm

Also, threads involving problems with a seller usually belong in the Jeers sub-forum on CPF. But to be honest, I'm not sure if this particular topic meets all of the CPF requirements to be considered jeer worthy.

Hi Monocrom,

at the time I ordered the light on ebay it was not possible to order directly
from dereelight, that was some days later.
And the sellers mentioned by dereelight at that time didn´t offer the Q5.

Yes, I was not sure about putting that post here. But where else?
If a mod or admin thinks the same, please remove or place it correctly,

thx, Martin

Hello neighbour, I'm shure, Alan will send you a spare tailcap. Their service is great.

Hi Franky,

where You come from?

look at post 8.

If it would have been possible to order at that time, or if I could have guessed
that it would be soon possible, I would have done.

Nevertheless I will contact them.

Welcome to CPF, Hellfire. I am sorry you have had a negative experience with this light.

This topic should have been posted in the Jeers sub-forum in the MarketPlace.

It is not possible to move it there, as the MarketPlace is a separate forum (hellfire, you will need to register there separately if you have not already done so). You may re-post this topic there, and I wish you luck in resolving it.

I am closing this thread.
