Hi,

yeah, so I have searched etc.
The brightest one that I could find was 50 lumens.

I need one that would fit normal bulb socket for desk lamp etc.

I'm also thinking of making my own bulb, but my electronics knowledge is next to zero so it would be much more preferable to get one of the shelf.

Thanks in advance

The brightest LED bulb would be the multi Cree/SSC ones. Like the 1st bulb in this link:

BTW a PAR 30 bulb is huge.

For a more wider beam:

I have one of these 3xCree:

Very bright but also runs very hot. The beam is identical to a three banger stack of L0D CEs - hotspot & spill and is not suitable for reading.

The DX one Gunner 12 linked to looks like a single LED driven hard at 3W instead of 3 LEDs driven at 1W each and may have shorter lamp life.

IMHO it is still not worth it to go for the bright LED bulbs. They are not more efficient than CFLs by the time you take the energy wasted by the power supply into account and they are much more expensive. I am using 1 watt bulbs for nite lites and bedside reading. I still have a 15W CFL on the other side of my bed for serious reading.
