So I just received my first Surefire light, the E1B. While reading the manual, I see it says only to use Surefire batteries and that knockoffs will not give the same performance as theirs. Is this true? Does it really matter if I use Surefire lights, or the brand that came with the light from battery junction?!
I appreciate the help guys.

SF cells are considered of good quality, but the light will run just as well off other decent cells.
What can cause problems are supercheap no-brand cells. There have been many threads here of cheapo cells venting in lights and causing explosions.
I think SF put that warning in there to avoid claims such as "I've used this light with cells that cost me $0.2 each and it blew up, now I want it replaced under warranty".

I reserve the Titanium batteries for my cheaper lights. My more expensive lights ($80.00+) are fed either SF, Panasonic or Streamlight CR123s. The newer Battery Stations are now sourced from an American manufacturer, so they are good to go.
