How can I know the polarity of bare emitter?

Please bear me with the newbie question.
I have bare SSC emitters ordered to mod my ultrafire 602a1.
How can I know the polarity of bare SSC emitter?
I have some cree emitters coming too, so I wonder same question about cree too.

Just wanted to make sure, are they all in the same direction? Left: + right -?

Hope Nake doesn't mind - I added a notation to his pic.

I also test my emitters first by using a 9 volt battery in series with a 10K
resistor. The resistor limits reverse current to a very safe level, but allows
enough forward current to verify the emitter works and is the correct color.
