I can not find how many Lumens a stock 3 D-cell mag light puts out.
Could someone enlighten me?

3 cell Mag - approx. 35 lumens
2 cell Mag - approx. 15 lumens

Interestingly though:
2 cell bulb with 3 cells - 50 - 60 lumens :grin2: (obviously with much reduced life.)

Thanks guys thats what I was looking for. :) I should have stated I have an incan... I recently changed to a TerraLUX Led and it was huge... I did not know about the Pelican though? Very happy with the upgrade!

Thanks,
Chuck

You have to take the Mag's remarkably poor runtime output into account - you can view the chart here:

http://flashlightreviews.com/reviews/maglite_3d.htm

I always wondered as a kid why the Mag seemed much brighter when you first installed the batteries, turns out it was because I was observant; the 3D falls quickly to 75% less than 15 minutes after you've put in the batteries, and 50% comes just after the 1 hour mark. So that's ~35 lumens after about an hour but then declining steadily after that - the Mag spends most of it's life slowly fading from the 50% mark down to zero. If you're not sure how old the batteries are, you're probably better off assuming 25% output, or ~18 lumens.
