I'm a Master Plumbing Specialist at Home Depot. My store is having a contest that they named, very originally, The Biggest Loser. Well, I'm 6'3" and at the time weighed 215 lbs. It cost $15 to join, and the person who lost the most weight gets the pot. There are 10-20 participants, I believe. According to the "ref", "proctor" or whatever you want to call her, I'm very near the lead right now. I just got on the scale and it said 193 lbs. It's judged by percentage lost, not pounds. Therefore, I'm at around 10% of my original body weight.

Therefore, if I win, that means weight loss = a free SureFire Optimus (or Arc6). :twothumbs

You win the 'pot' of everyone's $15 entry fees to compete. I can't remember the number of participants, but if it's 20, that means my SF Optimus will be 'free'.

even if you don't come in first, you still win.

I know what you mean, but in my case, not really. I'm a runner and every Jan/Feb I lose my winter weight to get ready for some races that I run every year. So if I don't win, it's just $15 down the drain. ;) Runners are supposed to weigh no more than 2.5 lbs per inch. That puts me at 186.5, ideally. So I usually try to get near that every year.

*edit* After thinking about it, I guess I kinda spoil the spirit of the thing. :sigh: I may withdraw from consideration. On the one hand, it is a competition to lose the most weight in a given time frame. That I've (possibly) done. However, it's also supposed to encourage overweight people to get healthier. I was just carrying winter weight, pounds that I already intended to lose. What would be the most honorable thing to do? Should I withdraw, or did I simply win a competition?

p.s. - as a side note, I'm not stooping to what some are doing... laxatives! :green:

I hope not-your bones probably weigh more than that! :eek:oo:

I know you meant to say that you lost around 10% of your original body weight, but what you actually said was so funny I couldn't resist commenting. :nana: Anyway, congratulations of leaving the ranks of the "spherically challenged". I still need to lost some weight myself.

I think you should stay in the competition. Even though you may have intended to loose the weight anyway, you still have to actually DO it. A lot of people "intend" to do things they never get around to doing.

Anyone overweight who enters and "loses", still wins. That sounds like it doesn't make sense!

Yeah, it's over. The 'official' results aren't in yet, but I'm 98% sure that I won. Sure makes the Optimus a little easier to justify! :twothumbs
