Hi all, I've been considering picking up a PT-40 and using either AA Lithiums or maybe rechargeables along with some of the Carley 1.5 amp Krypton Star bulbs. Any idea if the PT-40 can handle the heat generated by such a setup?

oohh. im not sure.

i know it seems to handle the kpr103's ok.

on a side note, here are the lux readings from some bulb experiments witha a tec-40 (all are with alkies):

kpr113: 750 lux

kpr103: 1600 lux

xpr103: 3100 lux!

i dont know how long the xpr would last. i have run it for about 15 mins at a time. it gets pretty hot, but nothing melted.

i have 3 tec 40s: 2 have alkies and kpr113 for reliability. 1 is in my car using lithiums and kpr113.

great lights.

if you test the krypton star, let us know! im still looking for a very high output bulb with good reliability--even if it sacrifices some runtime.
