Very nice package here. I see the low resistance mod is done to the tailspring.

It's about probably a tad over 900 lumens with the low resistance mods he's got there. This is an outstanding package with the charger and extra bulbs. Of all the hotwires formulas, the Mag11 is one of my three favorite. It has such an outstandingly white beam for an incandescent light and they have decent run-time too.

Re: FS: Silver 2D Mag11 w/ Charger

mossdabomb,

:welcome:

Since this is a direct drive configuration (no voltage/current regulator) this can be an interesting question.

According to LuxLuthor's Destructive Incan Bulb Tests
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h75/pike444/bulbs/1111.jpg
(book mark this page) the WA 1111 bulb at (1.2V*6) 7.2V / 3.8A has a predicted 805 bulb lumens.

However, according to SilverFox's NiMh Battery Shoot Out
https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/79302
(book mark this page also) the Eneloops 1.2V 2000mAh batteries at 3.8A has a measured voltage of 1.15V.

Going back the LuxLuthor's tests again a WA 1111 with Eneloops at 1.15V*6 = 6.9V now at 3.56A predicates about 700 bulb lumens.

Repeat with new 3.56 current or say good enough

So, somewhere between 700 and 800 lumens for eneloops batteries that are below 1.2V.

Try this now with batteries hot off the charger at 1.4V.

Enjoy!

What is the runtime for this setup!?

Can you use the ROP high bulb with this?

Re: FS: Silver 2D Mag11 w/ Charger

Floodlight,
Using SilverFox's NiMh Battery ShootOut https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/79302
the Sanyo Eneloop 2000 has about 1.87AmpHours.
The WA 1111 draws about 3.8Amps, so 1.87*60/3.8= 29.5 minutes.

No, the High ROP bulb needs a reflector with an inside diameter of about 10.5mm.

Re: FS: Silver 2D Mag11 w/ Charger

I think this is just what I am looking for.

I would like to build my own mag85 or mag11, but I think starting with a prebuilt unit might be a good start.

How easy would it be to add a regulator to the light? And would it benefit from it?

What is the likelihood of an instaflash if you pull the batteries directly off the charger?

Thanks!

Re: FS: Silver 2D Mag11 w/ Charger

(6*1.4) = 8.4V would instaflash a WA 1111 or a Phillips 5761. According to SilverFox the Eneloops battery at 4Amps only produces about 1.25V and quickly drops off to about 1.15V. (6*1.25) = 7.5V should not instraflash a WA 1111. But resting it over night would also be safe.

I have not done a regulator for an incandescent bulb, but I have used AW's soft start switch.

Re: FS: Silver 2D Mag11 w/ Charger

It looks like a really nice flashlight, good for walking the dog.

I would like to buy this light if I can get a positive answer from you in the PM I sent.
Thanks.
