I was just googling (is that a word??) for high powered hid ballasts when i came across this circuit, could this be used for HID bulbs ?

The transformer will be a pain to make. It says you can power an automotive HID with it. Perhaps you could use a pre-built automotive HID ballast to power a non-automotive HID of a similar wattage?

Hello!
I build this Inverter, but here in Germany i don't get the Transformercores. I take them from a very old PC-Powersupply (Made 1986, 75W output, it was the only core i could remove without brake it into pices).
It works not so fine, the output (with no load) is about 60V and a few ma.
Don't even light a 4W flourescent Lamp at full power.
Maybe with the right cores it will be ok, so try and error :devil:!
